Daylight Donuts has been named as the 2023 Outstanding Small Business Award winner by the York Chamber of Commerce.
The award was presented to owners, Ron and David Kretz, the father/son duo who run the business in downtown York. During the presentation, it was expressed how “both men see the York community as a great place to raise a family and love the small-town atmosphere. They love that Daylight Donuts has a long history and solid reputation for serving great doughnuts. As Christians, they also see this as a good opportunity to help shine His light to those around them. For Ron and David, it is a perfect combination and they look forward to serving and being a part of the York community for years to come.” Those who nominated the business said “it has quickly become a very successful business in the York community. They are continually giving back through generous donations and sponsoring community events. The shop brings a fun and positive experience and the quality and value are consistently top tier.” Nominators also said, “it’s a great place to take kids for an outing as well as meet friends for coffee and doughnuts. Everyone is helpful and kind.” Ron is originally from Cheyenne, Wyoming, but he has lived all over the United States and overseas. After college, he served in the Army. After leaving the military, he served about 25 years as a minister, a missionary in Greece and then with the staff of Sunset International Bible Institute in Texas. David graduated from culinary school in 2001 and has worked in that field since. He traveled with the Ringling Brothers Circus, Norwegian Cruise Lines in Hawaii and Cirque Du Soleil internationally.
